Population office promotes responsible parenting, NFP in Lanao Norte

Tubod, Lanao del Norte (4 September) — In celebration of the Family Planning Month with the theme “Pare Ko, Kasama a Sa Pagplano Ng Pamilya,” the Provincial Population Office disseminates various information through a series of classes on responsible parenting and natural family planning to 40 provincial government employees at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall every Friday of August.

This endeavor served to launch the implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered into by and between the provincial government through Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo with the Population Commission (POPCOM) represented by Mylah Faye B. Cariño, Assistant Regional Director for Region 10 for the implementation of the Presidential Directive of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to promote natural family planning up to the grassroots level.

According to ARD Cariño, the province of Lanao del Norte is the priority of POPCOM-10 with a budget allocation of P1 million this year for the conduct of 500 barangay classes to fully implement Responsible Parenting and Natural Family Planning Program through the provincial POPCOM Office.

Further, POPCOM-10 shall likewise provide mobilization fund to the provincial POPCOM team in the amount of P50,000 to cover for the expenses that will be incurred during meetings and monitoring travels this year.

Under the program, information on Filipino Family, Responsible Parenting which includes essence, meaning and rights of children; duties and responsibilities of parents; Family Relationship including husband-wife relationship; relationship with relatives and in-laws; and how to make marriage work; Fertility Awareness; and Natural Family Planning Methods are disseminated province-wide.
