I think Iliganons have to be vigilant and not just rely on one source of information. We should not be hasty in pointing fingers at just one group as being responsible for these atrocities. Isn’t it possible that there are other groups taking advantage of the cruelty AND stupidity of the MILF? A more capable, more intelligent, more ambitious, greedier group? Think about it.
I want to say to the national government (I think the local government is quite sincere and trust it), pursue the MILF, make them pay for what they did, AND PLEASE PROTECT ILIGAN, as you should.
Well, the inability of the Army to neutralize MILF rebels still is the main reason for the bombings… we know what muslims will do if they don’t get what they want, they will resort to violence because they could not bear to argue about what they want because it is so irrational… Once and for all, the city or provincial government should do its job in creating newer ways to eliminate this barbaric approach to idealism.
If there’s one most barbaric party in the Philippines right now, it’s the Arroyo administration. Peace can’t be achieved through war. War erupted because of the ideas and tactics of the warfreaks in malacañang which they basically raked in huge amounts of money through war. The GRP and MILF should go back to the negotiating table, prosecute those rogue MILF elements through international courts. And lastly, we should all GET RID OF THE BARBARIC ANTI-MORO AND ANTI-CHRISTIAN SENTIMENTS. Study history, and we’ll all learn who are the REAL landgrabbers!!
it’s sad how terrorists have continued to attack Iligan City. Try as they may, they will never get that city and claim it their own. The police need to be extra vigilant, terrorists do not rest so neither should the police slack off.
This is only what I can say to the bombers and to the group where they belong, “You are all Idiots to highest degree, cowards who attack at the back, heartless to the point of not minding the innocent civilians will be injured by your senseless attack and lastly you are all savages — no knowledge of the rules, conducts and engagement of wars as to whatever cause all of you bastards are fighting for. You have no right to take the lives of the innocents by whims you dogs. May all of and your leader burn in hell or suffer a painful death. There’s no reason for living in this world if you do not know how fight face to face. I wish that your god/goddess if you are not pagans that he/she punish all of you without mercy for if you believe in the almighty you should be aware that what you are doing is against his will. So be it, the end of all of you inhumans”
To the people of Iligan: Let us all be one in this fight for peace like a true gentleman. Let us be aware that whatever we do for peace there are always people who are not contented and would resort to terroristic attacks unconscionably. So let’s be wary and fight to the arms if peace of Iligan is compromised.
Basic question, who will benefit GREATLY with all these bombings? Who will get the sympathy of all these bombings? Who is gaining the propaganda mileage with all these bombings? Who will gain politically with all these bombings? Isn’t Arroyo and her dogs are the ones who gain so much from all these carnage at the end of the day? And besides, if we talk about terrorist activities and grave human rights violations, there’s no question that it’s the illegitimate Arroyo regime perpetrated more compared to any past Philippine president.

In the news the be-moled lady in malacanan was shown visiting the bombing victims. It was a big fake show like the fake president that she is. She was in Iligan for another reason when the blast happened at the three crowded malls. Now it appeared that she has care for the people when in fact it was the result of her own folly. Why this bloody unscrupulous group retaliate in an uncivilized way if she and her cohorts did not initiate such a stupid agreement? To be blunt about it, it was all her own doings — to create a chaotic scenario in our country so that she can declare martial law and no election will happen in 2010. It’s likely that a de ja vu of the Marcosian era will happen sooner or later.
She and this minority group gone bad are all the same. Murderers!
I hate this issue of bombings and bomb scare on my nativity. It seems that during my high school years way back 10-15 years ago. We didn’t have any problems like this. We really have to know who funds these people to buy the bombs to kill real people and destroy the peace and order in our place which we love. Inspite of these, We call each Iliganons to be strong in their faith and fight for our right that Mindanao is not owned by a certain people,clan or political orders, Mindanao in general is entirely for the peace loving people!!! Haters, Killers and land grabbers should buy their own land and live somewhere like leasing a planet like Mars and bomb their own place around…
Let us not be afraid of them…Guard “Iligan” Now!!!!
I think it’s time for “an-eye-for-an-eye-a-tooth-for-a-tooth” strategy here. A ‘terrorist act’ is the only message they can understand, so let’s give it to them. Bombings are not actions of a sane man (at least to our definition), so let’s be as crazy as they are.
As a foreigner living here in iligan I feel I must comment on the recent bombings. Having lived for many years in northern ireland ,with the threat of bombings happening almost every day, I have seen the aftermath, people dead and seriously injured, woman and children among them, yet at the end of the day the whole issue ended up around the debating table. Issues like this cannot be settled by bombs, only negotiation, but how many must die or be maimed first. It would appear that the authorities are not doing enough to prevent or stabilize the situation. Whilst mayor Cruz has made a stand against the terrorists, it would appear that the government has done little or nothing to address the situation leaving the army in a hopeless situation. I am sure that the vast majority of people living here in iligan are good upright decent citizens, whether christian or muslim, in fact I have friends from both sects who abhor the violence as much as I do. The only way to defeat terrorism is for all the citizens to unite and live peacefully together and denounce the tactics for what they are, cowardly and insane. Having said all that, I personally will be leaving iligan and returning to the relative safety of my own country. I wish you all peace and prosperity in the future, and may God bless you all.
all i can say is that iliganons shud be vigilant at this time. lets not put ourselves at risk..
I am a foreigner to Iligan and Mindanao, but have researched it for a long time. Iligonians need jobs and contact from outside, but everyone is scared to come there because just a few ruin it for good Muslims and Christians alike. I studied the bloodlines of the people of this area. That is what makes it so bad, you are all same family. If Muslims (have the city) who truely has it?, all the muslims, or just some leaders? will struggle for control make anything better for either side? I love the people I know from Mindanao, they are all so polite and good hearted. This is so sad. Some people need a cause to feel alive or feel important. I think those poor brainwashed people who would maim their brothers need to find a new cause in life. No God of any religion would approve these actions. If he would then maybe he is just as bad as a satan. Just some food for thought. I was really hopeing to come and get pictures of Christian, and Muslim alike. I’ll have to wait now and see how it plays out.

I felt bad for what I have heard and seen through the net. What those terrorists are doing is totally inhuman. Every individual has no right to kill somebody. This is not what is written in the holy book wether a Christian or a Muslim. There is a misinterpretation for those so called “Muslims”, that they will go to heaven if they can kill a “Christian”, people, hear it out, this is totally insane.!! Muslims will never go to heaven if they kill innocent ones. You will never be called believer in a Islamic Monotheism if you do all the “haram” things (unlawful). How can you label yourselves Muslims if you are drinking alcoholic beverages, looking lustfully at others property, stealing, killing, and all unlawful ways. People this is not Islamic! ISLAM IS PEACE AND LOVE. For the Christians, please don’t label all Muslims as bad people, and don’t say because they are Muslims that’s why they are bad. Every country in this world Muslims are there and I have seen lots of good, TRUE Islamic believer outside Philippines. Any individual who has strong faith to God/ALLAH always wanted peace.
Bombing and killing are works of “Shaitan” (Satan). People who done this Shaitan is living with them. We are victims of this chaotic ways, but it doesn’t mean that we will generalize everyone like labeling “Muslims”, be specific. Why if a person whose family are muslims and that person killed somebody everybody will say in the news ”A MUSLIM” killed so and so…? But if it’s a Christian, they will not put in the headline “A CHRISTIAN” killed so and so, they specified who that person is. This is not fair to our Muslim brothers and sisters. Why because of religion or belief we fight? This is not a mentality of a faithful person. This is a mentality of a mentally sick individual. For the terrorists, you are not a true believer of your religion!

Let us not finger at point any group especially MILF. The local government responsible for bombing in iligan city this is political tactics like in Davao airport bombing. The media blame some group of muslims but later, members of the AFP whom responsible the bombing. These are the media tactics to distruct the image of muslims for a particular place like here in iligan city. No ever muslim come here in iligan para lang magtanim ng bomba.

The world must condemn the bombings including the Muslims. Any act of cowardice or brutality is dishonoring your God and my God. The world has a population of 6 billion of which 4.9 billion are not Muslims. and anywhere in the world the fightings and chaos have one common denominator, be it in Gaza, Thailand, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Congo, India, Lebanon, Bali, Indonesia, East Timor or even in the Philippines. The fightings and chaos are instigated by one religion. Wars do not exist because people differ in their beliefs and religions. Killings and atrocities happened when one will enforce his belief and religion to others. Chaos also happens when someone with a certain religion can’t co-exist with those who are of different faith. What is the goal of terrorism? Who are the terrorists? What group do they belong? Are they not afraid that in the near future the middleast will run out of oil and riches. Who will finance them? Are they courting disaster? What if these 4.9 billion people will exterminate them. Most likely a new Milosevich will be coming soon. These people should think many times before they make trouble.
i’ve been away for a long time, but the same problem is there.
1) no water in the faucets
2) poor drainage, a little rain and there’s water everywhere, but none to drink in
our faucets.
3) streets are not safe, chaotic traffic flow, no sidewalks to walk on, instead,
it’s filled with vendors.
4) the market streets are also filled with vendors and buyers, of course, can’t
we put them somewhere? besides, it’s not fair to those who are in stalls
inside the market, the sidewalk vendors outside gets the customer before
they can go inside.
5) it’s dangerous crossing the streets, jeepneys also stop and pick up
passengers in the middle of the road.
6) whoever is the office in charge should also look into supposedly tourists
spots in iligan, like the timoga swimming pools, the toilet stinks and
floors are wet. belongings are not safe, i guess there are thieves in the
area, guests lose things, like cameras.
a few observations, but if the city will invite a fresh eye of an expert in city
planning, i think they will see many more that needs improvement and can
make suggestions for a better iligan,
My father was killed by the barracuda’s in 1972, and this is more that a quarter of century ago. i cannot beleive that the muslim population cannot co exist with other filipinos in the same country. How come, the muslims are always using oppression as an excuse to kill. Can’t we just all get along and stop thinking that the best way to have land and power is to kill. Muslim people , get a life and work hard like we do, and not hope for handouts, like bombing the city so people will give in… that is impossible to achieve.

First, my fiancee lives and works in this area and it angers me that the MILF feel they have the right to endanger her life and the lives of her family. If anyone harmed her, I would track them down. I would not be responsible for my actions.
Second, these acts of violence are acts of stupidity. Violence is the last resort of the man who who lacks both intelligence and imagination. The violent man has lost the argument. Violence does not reflect well on the muslim community as a whole, and yet muslims seem to be continually perpetrating such acts worldwide. They could not hope for a worse, more damaging advertisement for their beliefs, and yet they continue to perpetrate such acts. This is stupidity.
Third, we know from experience in Northern Ireland that putting down weapons and sitting at the negotiating table produces immediate, positive results. Ireland has become significantly more prosperous following the ceasefire. Think about that, MILF. At present, you are giving yourselves, your compatriots, your country, and your religion a bad name. Why?
i’m here in davao, telling myself im lucky to be out of iligan,my birthplace, far from the bombings…but it makes me cry out for help or God have mercy… whatever these terrorists want to impose over there…i’d say “tawon undangi na ninyo tawon, naa pa akong mga higala ug classmates diha…ug mga peace loving iliganon” i love my birthplace…i love iligan… keep it peaceful…PLLLEEAASSEEEE…
it’s kind of scary .I think maayo na magbantay pag ayo ang kapulisan.always check the people who coming in and out from iligan and the police should be watchful days and night specially in the mall.they should be alert all the time.I hope and pray that there’s no more bombing gonna happen…..
As a foreign visitor to Iligan City. I found it a beautiful and wonderful area with friendly and very helpful people. I shopped in the store that was bombed and my fiance looked for a job in that store the day before. I was so worried for her savety and health, her and her family. I sincerey believe the killing and wounding of innocent people only creates a bigger distance between good people and those who advocate violence. Having been through 9-11 bombings here in the US, there was much discriminition toward middle eastern people, concern, wonder, hatred, imprisonment and violence.
I plan on moving there to the Iligan City area in the future, It gives me much concern of the safety of myself and those i have come to have feelings for. i am a simple man and want a simple life, i have found an area that will afford me a good feeling and a future of peacefulness. Will these atrocities toward innocent people, the good people of iligan, breed the same feelings of distrust and discrimination as i saw here? Is it really necessary? Negotiations really need to be started again in ernest. Differences of opinions and want can not be resolved with killing, only create more hatred. I sincerely believe that any good muslim there wishes the killing will stop, hope their neighbor, their friends, those who see them on the street, will not change the opinion of their belief of allah and a peace loving people too.. I also hope this does not change. The love of friendship and a peaceful city and peaceful life should be the future of all of us.
business in our city are one of the affected sector… future investors of iligan city will not invest anymore because of the bombings in the city and near the city provinces… it will cause a bad image to the filipino people… iligan city is popular now in the philippines not because of its magestic waterfalls but in an image about terrorism and bombings… the police should be more alert but people should not blame police in every terrorism happen in iligan because people should also help and cooperate to the police and other sector. every individual has its own function and responsibility to the society. conflict between muslims and christians is arising because of the terrorism act…. when will this end? i love iligan because it is my home town… god bless iligan…. hi to all delos reyes family….

I am an iliganon by my first marriage and lived and worked there for 35 years. the first few years of my stay there were so memorable with the peace and security I had experienced. It had been dubbed as the Industrial city of the South because of the different factories built that gave works to many of the Iliganons. The magnificent Falls most especially the Maria Cristina Falls which is considered as one of the Wonders in the world gives attraction to the foreigners and the pilipinos who live outside Iligan as well. The Timoga swimming pools with the clean cold flow of water coming from the spring becomes one of the interest of the people from different areas in mindanao. These are some of the stuffs that gave more income to the city that made it so progressive. Then here come the terrorists destroying the peace and order of my city. It is true that human beings can never be contented in what they have in life for they want more which implies a GREED. Bombing is not a sane task instead it is an act of COWARDICE. I love Iligan so much so you insecured bombers must work hard just like other Iliganons have been doing. If you are the muslim bombers you have to ponder what you have learned from the words of your Allah. It is never your right to destroy what the good things done by the good and loving people of Iliganon nor it is your privilege whatsoever. Be aware that am always affected when i learn astrocities take place there for my own simple rationale. I love Iligan so much that I constantly pray for all the citizens out there for the security, progress and peace. In conclusion, I always keep my fingers crossed for the people who are not looking forward for the good of the city and the people living there as well.

I am an american living here for over three years I am 33 years old and married here, anyway. I have to say it is very bad, I do feel safe living here for so long and nothing ever happened to me but one of the stores that got bombed is a store where me and my wife shop. it is a bad thing when there are so many people who live to hurt other people for no reason other than the own hatred in there own hearts, then teach others to hate also.

i purely blame this on the miss management of the inteligence fund of the mayor lawrence cruzzzzz. maybe he pocketed the inteligence fund….. or maybe gi tulis sa iyaha…..hahahahahaa
