Tubod, Lanao del Norte (11 September) — Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo formally launched the Youth Development Program on September 8 in Bacolod town, this province, with a symposium on Sexually Healthy and Personally Effective Adolescents (SHAPE) organized by the provincial offices of the Commission on Population (PopCom), Social Welfare and Development, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Community Affairs.

Symposium speakers imparted to the youth knowledge on responsible sexuality, self-awareness and value clarification or “A Glimpse of Me,” things to think about in growing-up, life skills-life savers, living effectively with parents.

In addition, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) provided inputs on UNLAD KABATAAN Program while PESO will talk on the programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

It is the aim of Governor Dimaporo to develop a well-rounded youth of this province.

The youth must have a broader perspective as to the situation or circumstances around them especially on the peace and order condition.

“Peace and unity must start within ourselves, one must start young to understand the root cause of the conflicts around us,” uttered Dimaporo.

“Ang mga kabataan ay dapat makilala din nila ang kanilang sarili, so one may be able to adjust to individual differences and cultural diversity in Lanao del Norte,” Dimaporo added.

For the next 2 months, eighteen (18) other municipalities will be visited by Governor Dimaporo under the Youth Development Program with the objective of shaping up the youth who will inevitably become the future leaders in their respective barangays, municipalities or of the province of Lanao del Norte.
