Iligan City (4 June) — Schools Division Superintendent Domingo V. Samson, Iligan City Schools Division, Department of Education (DepEd) said we are still accepting enrollees this month for we want parents to send their children to school.

Regular classes started on June 01, but we consider late enrollees, implementing a no-fee collection policy, as per instruction of Education Secretary Jesli Lapus, added Samson.

Last School Year (SY) 2008-2009, DepEd Iligan has a population of 45,634 in the elementary level, and secondary level of 21,956.

For SY 2009-2010, we are expecting to reach the enrolment to 47,000, an 3% increase, and 23,000, an 4.7% increase, for elementary and secondary, respectively, Supt. Samson declared.

Iligan City school division has 13 districts, comprising 83 schools from the elementary and 25 schools from the secondary, Samson reported.

Also, the city division has 1,326 actually working teachers from elementary and 655 for secondary.

While the entire secondary level has not completely given report yet of status of enrolment, the whole elementary level has already advised their status to the division office, exclusive of the number of enrollees, considering enrolment is still going on.

The Iligan City National High School always gets the share of the highest number of students enrolled, citywide.

We got the assistance from the Traffic Management Group, and the Illigan City Police Office- Philippine National Police, maximizing police visibility in the city’s different schools. (PIA Lanao del Norte)
