ARMM gov lauds Marawi City on its 29th anniversary

Marawi City (17 April) — Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Datu Zaldy Uy Ampatuan expressed his appreciation towards the cooperation, support, and efforts of Maranao constituents that have brought positive changes to the development in the region.

In his message, delivered by Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Secretary Nadjemah Mokiin Salic-Malna, Governor Ampatuan congratulated the city government of Marawi and its constituents for the making the affair a venue in celebrating the quest for cultural preservation to attain peace and unity.

Ampatuan also reaffirmed his commitment to do all the necessary efforts to address the challenges that confronts the region.

“As we all know, we are still confronted with challenges of peace, governance and socio-economic concerns. And as your governor and brother, I am doing all the efforts to address these concerns,” Ampatuan said.

The Governor also said that the regional government has been very active in assisting the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) in the review and assessment of the ongoing peace negotiations between the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The message also emphasized that one of the projects of the regional government is to create a positive environment by sustaining the distinct Maranao culture that will promote Marawi as the city by the lake and the center of Islamic education, culture and arts.

“This city has numerous historical, socio-cultural, and education landmarks which could make it a tourist and educational center of the region,” Ampatuan said.

The Governor assured the public that he will continue to make some efforts in bringing the government closer to the people and the people closer to the government by intensifying the linkages with the provincial and city governments.

“Together, let us prove to the whole country, neighboring countries, and most importantly our constituents that indeed, we can make a difference in the ARMM”, Ampatuan stressed. (PIA-Marawi City)
