360 pilgrims from Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and Iligan City availed of the Hadj program

Quezon City, Metro Manila — 360 pilgrims from Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and Iligan City availed of the Hadj program initiated by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte that allowed Muslims to fulfill one of Islam’s pillar of faith.

The Jamaah (pilgrims) were given free transportation from their start-off point in Iligan City to Quezon City where they await their scheduled international flight, as well as free hotel accommodation for the entire duration of their stay in Metro Manila en route to Mecca.

“This program has been in existence since then Governor Abdullah Dimaporo first implemented it. It was later continued by Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo and now this same program which benefits all Muslims in the northern part of Mindanao continues to be supported by the present Lanao del Norte Governor – Khalid Dimaporo”, explained Lyndon Calica, Hadj program director.

The latest batch of pilgrims is set to depart from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport bound for Saudi Arabia on November 25, 28 and 29.

Earlier batches of pilgrims had already departed abroad on the 14th and 21st of this month.

“This is a very laudable program of the Provincial Governor. Many less privileged Muslims are given the chance to perform their holy duty of pilgrimage as taught to us by the prophet Mohammad,” expressed Shiek Sahraman Ampaso.

Accompanying the last batch for this year’s pilgrimage are PCAO team members Nelson Lasola, Vincent Labial, Maida Tawantawan, Regino Ray Guillermo and Rhona Mae Fulgeras. (VNL/PIO-LDN)
